Young Xavier Gerard has already excelled past many of his contemporaries in Côte Rôtie. His Syrah shows more flesh and suave tannins than Bernard Levet but applies more classical methods than Jean-Michel Stephan. With 50% stem inclusion, this is delicious and has enough crunch to please traditional Northern Rhône seekers.
