Tasting Notes

Aromas of ripe red and dark fruit, blackberry, raspberry, and soft earth lead the nose. The palate is medium-bodied and succulent, with light silky tannins, brisk acidity, and a fresh, airy finish.

Wine Details / Description

Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat was founded in Vougeot in 1962 and is run today by Charles van Canneyt. The estate covers about ten hectares across four villages and fifteen appellations, including grand cru holdings in Richebourg and Romanée-Saint-Vivant, and the regional wines are made with the same care as the top cuvées.

The Bourgogne Rouge comes from 2.34 hectares spread across small parcels around Chambolle-Musigny on calcareous limestone subsoil, from notably old vines. Fruit is hand-harvested and sorted, mostly destemmed, and fermented with indigenous yeasts in cement tanks over a classical two to three week maceration with punch-downs. The wine spends sixteen to eighteen months in barrels two to eight years old, with no new oak, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered before the following harvest.
