"This Pinot Noir is a blend from many small vineyards that we farm around the Santa Cruz Mountains. These small vineyards are all grown among the Redwood trees, are all influenced by the cool Monterey Bay and are all planted on interesting soil types. These cool climate vineyards showcase a complex uniqueness and textural depth. From year to year, this blend of Pinot Noir may differ in its exact vineyard source but it will always be a true Madson expression of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Our 2020 vintage is 100% whole cluster fermented. The fermentation began carbonic and we tasted the must to assess the maceration and evaluate extraction. This Pinot Noir is a glimpse into the cool coastal terroir of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Tasting Notes: This Pinot Noir showcases the Santa Cruz Mountains terroir. This wine leads with aromas of spicy cinnamon and wet gravel. The palate exudes fresh raspberry and blood orange with subtle hints of anise, dried tobacco and mushroom. Texturally, the wine exhibits a lively character, coupled pleasantly with a lush finish. Drink now or cellar for future enjoyment."
