Volnay Santenots is technically located in the village of Meursault, though vignerons discovered long ago that there is a larger demand for Volnay than Meursault Rouge, and therefore wisely arranged to label reds from their northernmost vineyards as Volnay. This is Rougeot's most structured, powerhouse of a wine that will age gracefully for decades.
Fruit is handpicked and 100% whole-cluster fermented in tanks for 15 to 18 days. Fermentation takes place with native yeast and no added sulfur. The juice is then blended and transferred to barrel with its fine lees for malolactic fermentation and élevage.
