Steve Matthiasson, a farmer turned viticulturist turned winemaker, is one of the leading figures in the wave following Robert Parker’s era of high-octane wines. Jon Bonné's The New California Wine (2013) canoned Matthiasson and his peers as the next generation of winemakers focused on balance and the unique expressions of California terroir.
A bright, fresh expression of Napa Cabernet from the same vineyard sources as the Matthiasson Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, inspired after a French “village” wine. Fermented with minimal extraction and aged for 20 months in mostly used French oak.
