"Roccalini is one of the most important young growers in all of the Langhe and certainly of Barbaresco. Remember that this was a founding vineyard for the Produttori back in the late 19th century. And even the famed Bruno Giacosa took an exclusive on its fruit for 12 years before Paolo Veglio pulled it back to launch his own domaine.

The Roccalini ‘cru’ was lost because the fruit from these vineyards had been sold for generations to the big names in Barberesco (mainly Bruno Giacosa). However, the cru should be anything but ‘forgotten.’ Noted by the most famous Italian vineyard cartographer, Masnaghetti, as being “… one of the most interesting of all of Barbaresco (with a potential not far from that of the finest lots of Roncagliette),” adding, “… it is a pleasure, therefore, to note that after years of obscurity, that the vineyard, since 2003, has a producer which bottles its grapes on their own and gives a certain visibility to this cru." - Importer Note
