Terry Theise on the 2011 vintage: "So, the winery of the vintage is clearlyWilli Schaefer, for an astonishingly brilliant collection surpassing anything I’ve ever tasted from this already stellar domain. Each wine, from the littlest to the grandest, showed an achingly clear line of pure terroir, both specific to Graach and somehow also talking to some ur-Mosel eternity, and no matter how rich the wines became, the clear line was always there."
"There is only one Spätlese from the Himmelreich this year and it is a beauty! The utterly pure and vibrant nose jumps from the glass in a blend of lime, orange, slate, petrol, bee pollen, wild yeasts, orange zest and lime blossoms. On the palate the wine is medium-full, pure and wonderfully round on the attack, with a lovely core, an ethereal palate impression, fine, ripe acids and an utterly suave, pure and dancing finish of impressive length and grip. Just a hauntingly beautiful example of the pure side of the 2011 vintage. (Drink between 2015-2040)"
