2010 Hervé Souhaut Saint Joseph "Sainte Epine"
All wines stored at 55° and 70% humidity
Saint Epine Syrah comes from 100-plus-year-old vines in St.-Jean de Muzols. It's a bit more serious than Sauhaut's "Syrah," with violet aromatics, blue fruit, and a mineral streak. With some age, the grip and snap of acidity tones down, and the fruit melds with more earth and funk.
About Hervé Souhaut
Naturalist icon, Hervé Souhaut, was influenced early on by friends in Beaujolais and Burgundy, and he’s become a crowd favorite for his approachable, idiosyncratic Northern Rhône Syrah and Gamay. Souhaut farms according to organic and biodynamic principles and, in the cellar, works entirely with whole clusters, semi-carbonic maceration, and minimal sulfur.
