"The 2008 Les Vergelesses is even a step up from the last two superb Savignys, as it jumps from the glass in a beautiful mélange of black raspberries, orange peel, cassis, espresso and a great base of minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very, very transparent, with a rock solid core of fruit, zesty acids, ripe, suave tannins and stunning length and grip on the poised and focused finish. This was thirty percent whole cluster this year. Stellar stuff. (Drink between 2016-2040)"

"A completely different nose of red berry fruit, earth and stone that is brooding, serious and more obviously sauvage in character leads to a similar flavor profile with the most significant difference being that here the supporting structural elements are ever-so-slightly finer yet they're denser as well and this will require a minimum of 10 years to arrive at its apogee. One to buy if you have the requisite patience. (Drink starting 2018)"
