Camille Thiriet has made a big splash in a short amount of time. Her most impressive wine is Les Retraits, situated next to Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier's famed monopole, Clos de la Maréchale. 2019 red Burgundies are lights-out delicious in general, but Les Retraits is up there with the best wines of the Côte de Nuits. Positioned next to a former rock quarry, the mineral-tinged finish does not go unnoticed.
Tasting Note:
"I have a particular weakness for Thiriet's 2019 Côte de Nuits-Villages Les Retraits, a beautiful wine that soars from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, spices, orange peel, burnt sage and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, lively and fine-boned, with melting tannins and a long, saline finish, it's already hard to resist."
