2017 Dureuil-Janthial Rully Blanc
It’s not every day that we spotlight Burgundy’s Côte Chalonnaise. Vincent Dureuil in Rully is a favorite producer among Burgundy’s circle of vignerons. With fervent backing from wine critic William Kelley, he’s getting his long-overdue spotlight in the mainstream. In short, these humble Rully wines rise to the occasion of white Burgundy’s top echelon.
Tasting Note:
"The 2017 Rully Blanc is superb, unfurling with an enticing bouquet of meadow flowers, apple blossom, fresh green pear and subtle hints of nutmeg. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied and satiny but precise, with a bright, nicely concentrated core that's quite tight-knit despite the wine's youthful charm... a 1992 that concluded our tasting, derived from the same four parcels that produced this 2017, was still in its prime."
